The 2016 Nissan Titan XD

Nissan will be offering next year the 2016 Titan XD, a huge, powerful machine allegedly made for and by Americans. Designed, tested and manufactured in United States Nissan’s studios, this colossal truck is impressing everyone.

The 2016 Titan XD looks just like that, a massive titan with anger and a lot of muscles. They are deadly serious about power. Cummins is behind it. This could be a critical situation to Ford and it quasi-monster trucks.

Let’s see the main features of this heavy pick-up.

Cummins Engine Delivering Power

As we said, Cummins is behind the powerhouse. The 2016 Titan XD packs a DOHC turbo diesel 32-valve 5.0 L V8 with Bosch High-Pressure Common Rail technology (HPCR) onboard to improve fuel efficiency. The dual turbo system is enhanced to avoid lag and make the truck faster without interruptions. These turbos behave depending on the driving trend.

The transmission in charge to receive all the power produced by the massive Cummins’ turbo diesel is a strong, Heavy-duty 6-speed Aisin automatic gearbox. This setup, according to the maker, is capable of generating 310 hp and a maximum torque of 555 lb-ft at 1600 RPM.

The turbo diesel technology used in the 2016 Titan XD is one of its main features, due to it efficiency and cutting-edge mechanism. The Holset M2 delivers two turbos, one small and other bigger, are working at the same time. With more or less intensity, they maintain it functions all the time, going heavy when it’s needed.

This means that the 2016 Titan XD will premiere a brand new engine, never used by another model. This will allow the truck to go from standstill to 60 mph (100km/h) in 7 seconds and have a estimated top speed of 125 mph (201 km/h). A little bit disappointing for a huge motor.

In terms of suspension, Nissan was dedicated to providing the necessary for granting a smooth ride, despite the tough engine behind the hood. Double wishbone suspension is found in the front and in the rear, there is the same suspension used by the Titan’s predecessor, this time tuned and optimized for the case.

The stopping power is delivered by huge 14-inch ventilated discs with hydraulic boost. According to the maker, they are capable to suddenly stop the massive truck in no time.

Design, Looks and Comfort

Don’t get wrong the 2016 Titan XD. It seems really tough and muscular, but, according to the maker, this truck provides a smooth, comfortable ride, thanks to it mechanics and interior.

The massive, square headlights are the first impression of the front fascia. The practicability of square lights is kind of clear, due the capacity of providing a better performance. Despite all the things said, this is, at the end, a work truck.

We find chrome at a lot of places when we examine the exterior design, with is totally new and original in comparison with previous models. From all the points of view, the 2016 Titan XD looks bold and robust. Looks like both ends have wider dimensions than the cabin itself.

There are three sizes of wheel available, from 17 to 19-inch, powered by rear or four-wheel-drive.

In the interior, we found two-tone upholstery with delicate details. The cabin decorations create a notable contrast with the tough exterior. And, as expected, it is huge and spacious. The 2016 Titan will feature a 12-speaker Rockford Fosgate sound system among many toys available.

The Bottom Line

Do you want a 2016 Titan XD? They are many variants to choose, differencing between them with equipment and toys. The base prices will start at an estimated US$40.000 and go up to US$60.000 f0r the XD Platinum Reserve.
