The 2015 Hilux Invincible X remembers to all the Toyota customers the true legacy of this truck. The Hilux name has represented strength, durability and reliability all over the years. Its good fame has transcended from Japan to the entire world. Basically, an immortal work pick-up. Are we exaggerating? There is a Top Gear UK episode with really good proof about this.
Now, the 2015 Hilux Invincible X tries to make it more interesting and exciting. Do not expected extreme off-road capabilities. The Hilux truck has never been a talented 4×4 vehicle. Instead, it has other qualities and commands in other territories.
Let see some of the features of the 2015 Hilux Invincible X.
Engine and Specs
The 2015 Hilux Invincible X packs a tweaked 3.0 L 4-cylinder engine, known as the D-4D. There is only going to be one power plant to choose for this new model. Despite this, we have to transmissions available, a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed automatic.
For the traction, the 2015 Hilux Invincible X is going to be all-time AWD and will feature an automatic disconnecting differential system, greatly improved by Toyota for this model. This setup provides to the work truck an awesome tow capacity of 6172 lb (2800 kg).
Unfortunately, the above-average engine does not make a good contrast its performance numbers. The 2015 Hilux Invincible X go from standstill o 60 mph (100 km/h) in 12 seconds. For the top speed, this work truck goes no beyond to 109 mph (175 km/h). These mediocre numbers could look odd to you as they do for us.
Important Design and Comfort Upgrades
When you read “Invincible X”, you imagine, as we did, a strong, aggressive vehicle with a need for speed. In the case of the 2015 Hilux Invincible X, the name stands for upgraded comfort and looks. The only thing more aggressive than in its base model is the sport-like stance.
We found the exact same form of the base model. In the exterior, the main difference will be multiple chrome details, as the front grille, a hood air intake, door handles, and plenty others. For the wheels, we have two new sets available: the standard Invincible model and the Rica five-spoke optional one. The last set of wheels come in three different color options.
The dimensions of the 2015 Hilux Invincible X are the exact same of the base model, which offers a huge space, both inside the cabin and in the rear bed. For the cabin configuration, only expect a double cabin setup.
When we arrive at the interior, we found a notable upgrade in luxury. For the seats, there is a standard black leather or an optional two-tone black upholstery, also made in leather. The “Invincible” logo will be seen on the standard upholstery while the “X” logo will appear on the optional two-tone one.
For added comfort, the 2015 Hilux Invincible X comes with automatic headlights equipped with cleaners, fog lights, the Toyota Touch 2 infotainment system onboard, rear-view camera, cruise control, electronic stability control (ESC), and many other features.
The Bottom Line
This a work truck. Do not expect, as already mentioned, a hardcore off-road vehicle. All the way around. This edition does not improve the specs or performance, instead, it adds more luxury and comfort. For United States users, you are out of luck: the 2015 Hilux Invincible is not going to be available in that market.
The price tag will be closer to the US$38.000 mark when you do the conversion from British Pounds (GBP).
