Departing from the original concept announced a few years back, the 2017 Infinity Q30 shows to be a mid-entry, quality sedan for the active lifestyle. With a modest engine on board and a cutting-edge design, the 2017 Q30 can be an excellent choice at its actual estimated price tag.
Joining the efforts of a multiethnic work team of engineers and designers, this model is now conceived in a practical, commercial version, even more improved and tuned. Don’t be confused: This is not a high-performance vehicle. Instead, Infiniti is offering you a unique comfort experience without expending too much.
Let’s see some of the main features of the new 2017 Infinity Q30
Effectiveness Coming from the Modest 2017 Q30’s Engine
The small but competent engine on board is a turbocharged DOHC 16-valve 2.0 L 4-inline. This discrete motor is working with a 7-speed twin-clutch automatic gearbox with plenty of features. In the U.S. market, is going to be offered only the 2.0 L 4-inline gas engine setup.
The 2017 Q30’s transmission will feature a fully automatic gearbox with manual dynamic paddle shifting. A 6-speed fully manual will be also available.
A Q30 with the first specs described, the turbocharged 2.0 L 4-in line with the 7-speed auto transmission, will generate 208 hp at 5500 RPM and 258 lb-ft of torque at 1200 RPM. Thanks to this performance, the 2017 Q30 goes from standstill to 60 mph (100 km/h) in 6 seconds and features a top speed of 155 mph (249 km/h).
The car development was carried on by specialized engineers from Japan and several countries from Europe. Most of the efforts were made to achieve a reliable equilibrium between handling performance and comfort on the road.
In this matter, tuned parts and high-tech systems were implemented. The 2017 Q30 will feature a MacPherson suspension in the front and an adapted multi-link one in the rear.
The 2017 Q30’s drivetrain architecture is based in the Mercedes-Benz MFA. This way, the entire composition of the car will be like the ones in many Mercedes-Benz entry-level modern models available.
The classic design and form of the Infiniti maker are present at the Q30. The front, hood, and grille are shared with previous models. Despite this, it is now modernized, featuring a cutting-edge, refined appearance, full of curves. Aesthetically, for its prices, the Q30 has a top-notch aspect and character. It became a surprise, since the original concept’s design wasn’t changed a lot.
This model is curvier that is focused on stylised lines. If you dedicate time to see its form and plenty of little details, a similarity with the Mercedes-Benz A-Class can be found. The numbers aim for a curb weight of 3400 lb (1542 kg), which is decently lightweight for the price and the specs.
Interior Features and Final Thoughts
In the interior, the changes from the concept’s original design are more obvious that at the outside. But still, major guidelines for the cockpit creation were respected and followed.
High-quality, luxurious materials such as wood, leather and aluminum are found within the interior. In this matter, there is little enviable about German models in the same category. There are three color combinations are available for the interior decoration: City Black, Cafe Teak, and Gallery White.
Infiniti developed a technology called Articulation Index, which works regulating the sound emitted by the car and surroundings, allowing the passengers to have a comfortable and pleasant conversation without the need of raising the voice tone too high. Besides, there is an Active Noise Cancelation system, which counterattack with sound waves the noise produced by the engine and the road.
The price isn’t confirmed yet, but the estimated US$30.000 price tag is mainly based on the specs and past prices.
