With a really long and interesting name, the 2016 Scat Pack Shaker represents a noteworthy version of the brawny Challenger 395 Hemi. It is in charge of reviving the legendary Mopar spirit of the 70s. Is that possible? The Gold Era of muscle cars is coming back at its own way.

Presented during the 2015 Woodward Dream Cruise, the 2016 Scat Pack Shaker is an insane modification of the popular, modern Dodge sports car. Do not expect a more powerful version than the Challenger Hellcat. Instead, look this new model as a fun tribute.

Let’s check out some of the main features of the 2016 Scat Pack Shaker.

Heavy Powerhouse

The 2016 Scat Pack isn’t more than a more appealing Challenger. This way, it packs a naturally aspirated Hemi OHV 6.4 L V8. This engine is capable of producing an insane amount of power, quantified in 485 hp at 6100 RPM and a maximum torque 475 lb-ft at 4200 RPM. Years far away the irrational Hellcat.

Along with this engine, there is a 6-speed manual transmission and an alternative 8-speed ZF TorqueFlite automatic gearbox. Whatever you choose, it will provide you pretty decent times. The 2016 Scat Pack Shaker goes from standstill to 60 mph (100 km/h) in 4.5 seconds, estimated by the media. Also, the probable top speed is around 186 mph (299 km/h).

This rear-wheel-drive monster has a curb weight of 4232 lb (1920 kg), expected as a Challenger. In this matter, is way heavier and bolder than is main competitors, the Mustang, and the Camaro. The stopping power is provided by 4-wheel ABS with front ventilated discs and solid ones in the rear.

As the name implies, the Super Track Pak came as standard. If features Goodyear Eagle F1 high-performance tires, improved and tuned suspension, a smart and active stability control, and a track-inspired steering.

Plum-Crazy Design

The 2016 Scat Pack Shaker wants to become the fancier and most interesting Challenger available. The “fastest” place is already taken, so this isn’t an intern competition. It is more like a tribute to many muscle cars from Dodge and Plymouth, like the Dart, the Charger R/T, and the epic SuperBee.

The Plum Crazy refers to the iconic paint job, which is widely available. This color was introduced and highly popular during the 70s, mostly among Dodge muscle cars.

The 20-inch polished aluminum wheels with satin painting makes a great contrast. The exterior looks have a great finish, characterized by top-quality tones. Over the hood, we found an opulent air intake that features the ‘Shaker’ badge.

Inside the cockpit, there are ‘Shaker’ badges everywhere, even on the upholstery. Radar Red and Dark Slate leather are available as the main elements for an integral decoration of the seats. Only premium, top-notch leather is used inside the 2016 Scat Pack Shaker. The sports steering wheel is an interesting addition to the final product.

In terms of technology and toys, there is a 7-inch TFT screen in the center of the dashboard. From there, most of the infotainment system is controlled. Among of other interesting features available, we notice a rearview camera, rear parking sensor, dual-zone climate control, an Uconnect 8.4 navigation system, and a premium sound system as optional.

The Bottom Line

The 2016 Scat Pack Shaker is more a compilation than a special edition. It reunites all the features of the Scat Pack and Shaker packages offered during the past year. We don’t know if this is a Dodge try of recycling ideas, but we like it.

Recycled or not, the 2016 Scat Pack Shaker is a “fresh” Challenger 395 Hemi with an estimated price tag of US$45.000.
