The Panamera has been an extraordinary example of how Porsche can deliver comfort, luxury, and elegance in a different format than the one this carmaker is used to. As a best-selling high-end sedan, it was just a matter of time for this company to create a new product from it.
During the recent 2017 Geneva Auto Show, Porsche decided to make the big announcement and present the 2018 Panamera Sport Turismo to the world. This station wagon represents a bold move in a world of modernity and progression.
For most young customers, station wagons are something from the past. So, what may be driving Porsche to announce this model? The truth is that the markets are changing and now comfort become first, not the looks. Nevertheless, the 2018 Panamera Sport Turismo doesn’t look bad at all.
Let’s get into the details.
Mechanics and Specs
Porsche wasn’t really generous with mechanical details during the announcements. What we know so far is that the 2018 Panamera Sport Turismo will be available in many different configurations, allowing users to have plenty of options.
The powerplants will be linked to the trim structure. With this in mind, we are getting four different versions. The first one, representing the entry level, will be the Panamera 4 with a 3.0-liter V6 engine, generating up to 330 horsepower.
Next, we have the Panamera 4S with a V6 powerplant that produces 440 horsepower. The Panamera 4 E-Hybrid adds a 136-horsepower electric motor to the V6 monster in the 4S, reaching a grand total of 462 horsepower. Finally, we have the Panamera Turbo, our strongest bet in the wagon line-up, generating 550 horsepower thanks to a 4.0-liter V8 powerplant.
The all-wheel-drive layout will come as standard here. There is little to none information about other specs for the 2018 Panamera Sport Turismo. What we can assume is that it will share most mechanical elements from the regular model. Nevertheless, with a revamped body, some relevant changes possibly will take place. The wheelbase will remain the same as the regular Panamera.

Elegant, Ground-Breaking Looks for the Panamera
It really doesn’t matter how much power the 2018 Panamera Sport Turismo will have under the hood. At the end of the day, this model is a Porsche, so a lot of muscle is mandatory. The real novelty here is the wagon factor.
Truth be told, it’s hard to believe that Porsche actually created a station wagon. This risky move may reflect some intentions from Porsche to move into the luxury sedan market. The original Panamera has a while in the market and it has been a sounding success.
Now, the 2018 Panamera Sport Turismo has a unique, quite exquisite styling that leaves no one indifferent. This ground-breaking looks takes the best from the regular Panamera and improves its flaw from always: the rear end.
The 2018 Panamera Sport Turismo adds one extra cubit foot for cargo capacity and a third place to the rear seat. The interior is not only more spacious but luxurious, organically improving what was already great.
The Bottom Line
The 2018 Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo is something no one was expecting but everybody appreciates. While station wagons may not be that popular, this can become a trend.
The base price of the Panamera 4 model, the entry level one, will be US$97,250, hitting the American market by fall.
