Many years of hard work were needed to create the 2017 Huayra Roadster. Yes, it looks very similar to previous models, but there is more than the eyes meet. For Pagani, this is an unparalleled announcement, representing a before and after for the Huarya brand.
The 2017 Geneva Auto Show was the right place to finally announce this gorgeous piece of cutting-edge engineering that was taken to the very end of beauty. For serious car lovers, there is no a single doubt: the 2017 Huayra Roadster is one of the most spectacular and jaw-dropping supercars we are going to see in this decade.
Nevertheless, its precious appearance hides a lot that could be of our interest. In the following lines, we are going to make a great effort to focus on those things.
The Power Within
Some things simply don’t change and we don’t care. The 2017 Huayra Roadster packs the same Mercedes-AMG M158 twin-turbo 6.0-litre V-12 powerplant, which produces up to 754 horsepower at 6200 rpm and a maximum torque of 737 lb-ft at 2400 rpm.
Along with this colossal engine, the 2017 Huayra Roadster will enjoy a 7-speed automated manual transaxle. Other interesting mechanicals facts are the electronically controlled limited-slip differential and the ECU that was tuned by Automac Engineering, being both elements state-of-the-art equipment that involved meticulous development and in-depth tuning.
The stopping power is provided by high-end ventilated carbon-ceramic rotors, along with six-piston calipers at the front and four-piston ones at the rear. Something we need to highlight is that, according to the carmaker, the gearbox is now 40 percent lighter in comparison with previous Huayra models.
Much More Than Astonishing Looks
Careless people will say that the 2017 Huayra Roadster is exactly the same as previous models in the line-up. We choose to say something different.
This new supercar was developed and revised from to top bottom, making the most from what the Pagani team learned with the epic Huayra BC. This way, the 2017 Huayra Roadster aims to master every single aspect that previous models in the line-up couldn’t, from handling to power.
The highly enhanced aerodynamics are the first key to this supercar. Some of the most relevant elements from the refreshed design are the revamped front end, the optimized rear diffuser, redesigned door and roof layout, the panels all over made of carbon fiber, and much more.
Carbo-titanium/carbon-triax HP52 was used for the central tub, being a cutting-edge, crucial element of the structure. Thanks to this and many other upgrades, the 2017 Huayra Roadster claims to be 52 percent stiffer in comparison with the previous model, setting the bar high.
The slim design we were used to is now sleeker and sexier, with softer lines but notably more aerodynamic. APP Tech made the forged-aluminum wheels, with 20 inches at the front and 21 at the back. To wrap them up, we now have exclusive, tailored-made Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires that provide 1.80 g of lateral grip.
The Bottom Line
The 2017 Pagani Huayra represents seven years of hard work, everything in order to develop a supercar that is near to perfection. But forget about getting one for yourself. Only 100 units will be produced and they are already sold.
The price tag is over US$2,400,000.
