The close we get to the 2016 Geneva Auto Show, more amazing debuts we enjoy. This time, it’s the turn for one of our favorite car makers among all, Mercedes. For our pleasure, AMG keeps working hard, launching more exciting, faster vehicles by taking luxurious, comfortable vehicles from Mercedes-Benz.

As we can notice, AMG is not what it used to be. From an isolated, sometimes forgotten high-performance division to one of the main branches of the Daimler Company. Now they bring us the 2017 C43 Coupe, one sexy beast to burn the road with both style and opulence.

The German car maker wants us to taste the raw power while comforting ourselves. The whole idea seems attractive to us, as every single time Mercedes-AMG launches a new model. And this want pretends to close the circle created by the magnificent C300 sedan and the C63 monster.

Let’s take a closer look of the sexy 2017 C43 Coupe.

Drivetrain, Specs, and Performance

The new 2017 C43 Coupe packs a highly powerful twin-turbocharged 3.0 L V6, which is totally capable of producing up to 362 hp at 6000 rpm and 384 lb-ft of torque at 2000 rpm, being the max speed rated at 6500 rpm. Along with this powerplant, we found a 4MATIC all-wheel-drive 9-speed automatic transmission. In terms of performance, this AMG-born coupe can go from standstill to 60 mph in just 4.6 seconds, according to the maker, of course. The top speed is, sadly, governed at 155 mph.

The AMG Ride Control is present in the sports-ready suspension onboard the 2017 C43 Coupe, also offering the three-stage adaptive variable damping. Comparing it with its “base” model, the C300, we found a lot of upgrades in mechanical terms. More effective brakes are present, providing the stopping power with 14.2-inch perforated discs on the front and 12.6-inch vented disc on the rear.

Wrapping the massive, black-finish 18-inch wheels that come standard, we find 225/45 tires on the front and 245/40 on the rear. Finally, the sports steering system is delightful, providing us the chance to enjoy a lot on the track. Not just as much as the C63, but it will be enough to please us.

Design and Comfort

The 2017 C43 Coupe receives almost the same visual treatment of the C63, already reviewed here, at Up and Coming Cars. The compact, slim form of the C-class is undeniable. Of course, AMG made its delicious additions like the lip spoiler and the diamond-mesh grille. The exterior carbon-fiber trim is available as an option.

We enjoy more and more features when we arrive at the cabin. The MB-Tex and microfiber seats receive a sexy red stitching. The same color becomes abundant, being present on the floor mats and the seatbelts. AMG’s characteristic detailing on the instruments and certain elements is notable as well.

The standard convenience items are abundant. Users will enjoy without an extra penny of heat seats, LED headlights and brake lights, a premium Burmester audio setup, blind-spot assists, a backup camera, and a sunroof. The upgraded experience comes as optional packages what brings us, for example, the Distronic Plus feature with Steering Assist, an 8.4-inch touchscreen for the infotainment platform and nav, automatic high-beams, active lane keeping, a highly practical 360-degree-view camera, and ventilated front seats.

The Bottom Line

The 2017 C43 Coupe is, without a doubt, the middle brother. Don’t let the all-mighty C63 overshadow this AMG little beast, because it has a lot to offer. It isn’t quicker or stronger, but it’s cheaper and will provide cheerful moments on the track as well.

The price wasn’t announced yet, but it will hit the market in fall 2016, so we aren’t going to wait too much to know more about it.
