The 2017 A4 Allroad Quattro is one of the great surprises announced during the 2016 Detroit Auto Show. This model wants to revamp the past generation Allroad, which was totally capable of fighting tough terrain. All luxury and practicability, even when off-road.
As many other vehicles exposed during the show, the 2017 A4 Allroad Quattro maintain many aspects in secret, yet. Could be due the recent scandal of the VW Group, which Audi belongs. The four-ring maker, from one way to another, has been hit by this unfortunate event. Actually, we aren’t getting a diesel setup for this model. At least, not at early stages of production.
Despite the secrecy, there are many details to share about the 2017 A4 Allroad Quattro. Let’s get started.
German Powertrain and Specs
According to Audi, the U.S. market will enjoy of a 2017 A4 Allroad Quattro packing a turbo 2.0 L four-cylinder powerplant operating with petrol. This engine will deliver 272 hp, which is an upgrade of 20 hp from regular A4 models with the exact same engine. As we already mentioned, there are no signs of diesel drivetrain available in the near future. At least while the scandal remains hot.
Probably, this engine will be paired with a promising 8-speed automatic transmission. Just as expected for the 2017 A4 Allroad Quattro, an Off-road driving model will be ready to improve the wagon capabilities on tough terrain and conditions. It will modify and improve everything from transmission to suspension.
This model is widely based on the MLB platform, present in several modern models of the group nowadays. Many other elements of the A4 sedan are present in this one, as expected. So, other specs will be highly similar in the all-terrain luxury wagon presentation.
Design, Looks and Comfort Provided
As we can see, the 2017 A4 Allroad Quattro is widely based on the original A4 sedans, except for the clear fact that this one is a wagon. We can’t deny that this model reminds us to the Q7 SUV recently reviewed by us at the Up and Coming Cars. The front fascia features as well the trademark design from previous models, like the TT and the more exclusive R8. Square, modern-looking headlights are in command, featuring two sharp lines of LED lighting.
The massive grille has parallel chromed lines in vertical position. From a side, the 2017 A4 Allroad Quattro seems large and highly spacious. Its long design seems elegant and quite opulent, despite it isn’t a high-end luxury vehicle. Actually, it is considered an all-terrain luxury wagon, which is a proper tag, we think.
The rear end features the same two taillights in the A4 sedan base model, which are pretty common but beautiful enough. Below, a twin exhaust pipe on a side seems quite sporty. Now, when we arrive at the highly spacious cabin, luxury is found. The dashboard and central console feature a cutting-edge design, at the proper level to compete with Mercedes and BMW models in the market right now. A touchscreen is placed right on top of the central console, following the trend mentioned by us in previous reviews.
Premium audio setup is installed among highly technological features and convenience items. The adaptive lighting is one nice touch, located at console and door panels.
The Bottom Line
The 2017 A4 Allroad Quattro remains a mystery after all. Many relevant aspects aren’t announced yet by the maker. If we go after previous price tags, we can estimate that this model will be around the US$43.000 mark.
