The 2016 Lamborghini Asterion

The Lamborghini Asterion was announced back then in Paris. The new creation by the famous and one of the most emblematic car maker of the world, Lamborghini, not was a surprise at all. The first hybrid car by the Italian company was initially mentioned back in 2009 and now it’s here. The 2016 Lamborghini Asterion is 4.7 meters long with a modified carbon-fiber Aventador tub with aluminum substructures, front and rear, with a different roof structure and its wheelbase is now stretched to create more interior space.

This hybrid car could be plugged in for a charge and a have enormous and ridiculously power up to 910 hp, blending the petrol and electric engines.

Meanwhile, Porsche, McLaren, and Ferrari are all hyped about the hybrid niche. Lamborghini has played this smartly and has built an incredible car with completely different features and style than the competitors.

In Europe for instance, 2021 is going to be a terrible year for hungry-fuel cars and a really good news for our world (filled up with climatic troubles), due to the European Union launched a new normative of CO2 regulation and all the supercars makers are concern about this. The concern has caused that some of them already started an offensive against that with the incorporation of hybrids cars to their repertory.

The Lamborghini Asterion is the crafted proof that a hybrid car can be as fast as a petrol one, and I’m not even joking. This car has a supreme performance, of course, delivered by one of the best supers sports car maker in the world.

Let’s review this flying hybrid car.

Powertrain Direct from Italy

The 2016 Asterion, in fact, has 4 engines. The main engine is an Huracan’s 5.2 L V10 aspirated engine with selective IDS (Iniezione Diretta Stratificata) and Lamborghini Doppia Frizione (LDF), paired with a seven-speed dual clutch transmission, delivering up to 600 hp.

By the other hand, two electric engines powers the front wheels of the car, delivering 300 hp. Summarized with the petrol engine, the total output reach 900 hp. The Asterion uses the motors on the front axle to deliver four-wheel drive, as well as torque vectoring and without any mechanical connection between the front and rear axles. The performance is incredible for a hybrid car. Nonetheless, unmatchable with the Huracan’s or Aventador’s performance, but still impressive with an acceleration rated from standstill to 60mph in just 3 seconds and a top speed at 199 mph.

The four engines are intended to decrease the fuel consumption drastically, and they can work by separate. In the case the owner runs out of fuel, the 2016 Asterion will be capable of using the electric engines to be driven for 31 miles at 78 mph in EV mode.

Design Line and Interior

The design between the Asterion, the Aventador, and the Huracan models are all different and leave a presumption that the Asterion would be a series-produced car. The design is all Lamborghini style in each inch of the vehicle. Has an intimidating front fascia that’s wild, sexy and minimalist. The grille is tiny but elongated with several LED light on it, and couples air intakes underneath the grille with a huge and incredible front bumper with some carbon-fiber details.

The long hood and the elongated, athletic form from the hood to the roof is astonishing. The panels in every section are well-designed and the doors, mirror, and air intake just at the front of the rear wheels are incredibly well-fitted. The rear is all the way Lamborghini. Precise, flawless and perfect dual twin exhaust outlets with futuristic and sexy stop lights and the typically visible engine trunk.

From inside a roomy and flawless design is immediately noticeable, all perfectly designed and with a style unique from Lamborghini with top-notch materials and features anywhere.

The Bottom Line for the Asterion

This hybrid model is made to revolutionize the supercars market in the future, with an incredible performance and aesthetic is proving that the hybrid cars have an undeniable potential.

Some rumors said that this car is not going to be on sale any time soon and for today’s assumptions, it would probably be in 2018 with an approximate price of US$200.000.
