LX and EX trims are equipped with a 2.4 L 4-cylinder producing 185 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. The fuel efficiency is not the best of its class but isn’t not bad at all. The 2.4 L engine is a good option for those who want an acceptable performance without incrementing the petrol expenses. For this trim, the Optima is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission with Driver Mode Select system.

The LX is available with a 1.6 L powerplant as well. On this engine, the fuel efficiency has been improved a little bit. The LX enjoys a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The fastest engine is the turbocharged 2.0 L 4-cylinder, which is available in the EX trim. It produces 245 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. The fuel efficiency was highly affected, being rated at 22 mpg in city and 32 on the highway. The acceleration is acceptable, going from standstill to 60 mph in 7.5 seconds.

Aesthetically, the Optima is a charming car and occasionally you will find people staring while driving. The sporty stance along with stylish details delivers an exterior look well designed with a truly modern shape. The front fascia receives sharp LED highlights fitting with the elaborate grille. It’s intimidating and sexy to look.

From sideways, the silhouette is athletic in order to remove an eye on its big dimensions. The Optima has an attractive rear view with a rear diffuser and an exhaust outlet in each side, dotting the car with an exciting rear end.

The cabin is comfortable and roomy, plagued with plenty of features. Taller passengers are not threatened by a small space. The Optima reported enough leg and headroom for any kind of people. In terms of materials quality, we end up surprised with soft-touch surfaces on doors and dashboard. Everything looks solid and premium.

The best about this car are the convenience features. Standard equipment consists of a 5-inch LCD screen with a rearview camera, and controls on the tilt-telescope steering wheel for the cruise control and audio system. As optional more advanced features we found blind-spot detection, active cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and surround-view monitor. Something incredibly impressive is the Harman/Kardon Audio system.
