Ferrari has achieved through history to become one of the most important, exclusive, and famous super sports cars makers in the entire world. Arguably few competitors of the brand can vie with Ferrari. Either haters or lovers, this brand has earned its fame and reputation, and they have to accept it. As a legacy, arrived the 2016 488GTB. A two-seat Berlinetta, successor of the 458 Italia, was launched back then in February and presented at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. The reception was quite good that night. The 488 is a wind of change on Ferrari. Its new generation of the 438 Italia came with more speed and beauty. Drivetrain and Performance
The new drivetrain is powered by an all-aluminum dry sump unit of the Ferrari F154 engine family. A 3.9 L V8 twin-turbocharged producing up to 661 hp at 8000 rpm and 561 lb-ft of torque at 3000 rpm. The transmission is powered by an automated manual dual-clutch 7-speed F1 gearbox manufactured for Ferrari by GETRAG. The engine change came with a reduction of 0.6 L. Despite that, Ferrari has worked to develop more horsepower, and even in lowers reps. The 458 Italia had 597 horsepower at 9000 rpm and the 488GTB, 661 hp at 8000 rpm. The same happened with the torque in the 458 (398 lb-ft), totally crushed by the 488’s torque of 561 lb-ft.
The acceleration is diabolic as usual in Ferrari. There are fastest, but it’s a Ferrari. Standstill to 60mph in 3.0 seconds and standstill to 124 mph in just 8.3 seconds, covering a quarter mile in 10.45 seconds, with a top speed of 205 mph.

This incredible performance is possible by a few of technical and mechanicals improved aspects. New specially-shaped high-tumble intake ports combined with 200-bar direct fuel injection, as well with an ion-sensing system which measures ionizing currents to control ignition timing and adaptively predict misfires and multi-spark function. Mechanically efficiency is improved by an oil pump that delivers oil in high and low pressure when is needed.
In terms of handling, improved carbon-ceramic brakes are equipped on the 488, derived from the technology of the flawless LaFerrari. These are way more efficient than those used in the 458, reducing the stopping distance by 9%.
Design Line and Interior
We all know what is a Ferrari. Is a piece-of-art anywhere you see it. The elongated, sharp, and athletic shape of the 488GTB is astonishing. Just an excellent work done by Flavio Manzoni. The front fascia with those extra large air intakes are terrific and brings a really sexy and speed hungry feeling along with those massive LEDs vertically-elongated headlights. The design of the hood to the cabin that held the impressive engine is flawless and leaves everyone with the jaw on the floor. The side panels are rich with sexy curves and air intakes that complete the hips of the 488GTB. If you approach it from behind, you will be hypnotized watching that opulent butt. You can easily spend an hour staring at it.
